Biddulph Male Voice Choir – waiting patiently to restart
While all Male Voice Choirs have been anxiously waiting to return to singing some choirs have managed to resort to various rehearsal methods including singing online and in some cases using the stands at rugby grounds to spread choristers out.
Biddulph Male Voice Choir is no exception and they have been waiting patiently for the go ahead in rehearsals in readiness for their big year next year in 2022 when they celebrate their centenary anniversary. The choir was formed in 1922 by local brothers Ed & Tom Roberts and from its inception the choir has always had a reputation for choral excellence and has raised many thousands of pounds for charities both at home and abroad. Covid19 resulted in a number of their fund raising concerts having to be cancelled including the choir’s much awaited return to Cardiff at St.David’s Hall.
Concert Secretary David McCaddon says ‘As you can see next year is a very big year for us and we are looking forward to performing in concert again across Staffordshire and Cheshire. Currently all concerts are on hold of course but naturally we are always keen to hear from anyone wishing to host a fund raising event.’
And recruitment will also be key once again within the choir and a restart will be an ideal time for anyone wishing to join. All details can be found on the choirs’ website.
So hopefully Biddulph MVC will be soon back in rehearsals and ready for their next programme of concerts. Watch this space and the website www.biddulphmvchoir.co.uk
